In construction, steel bar punching is a key operation, and different types of steel bars require different methods and precautions when using steel bar punching machines due to their differences in material, strength and specifications. The following is a detailed introduction to the use of steel bar punching machine on common types of steel bars.

Hot-rolled round steel bars

Rebar characteristics

Hot-rolled round steel bars have a smooth surface, good plasticity, high elongation, and generally relatively low strength. The common diameter is 6-22mm.

Precautions for use

Mold selection: Since the surface of round steel bars is smooth, it is easy to slip during punching. Therefore, it is necessary to select a mold with anti-slip patterns or clamping devices to ensure that the position of the steel bars is stable during the punching process.

Punching speed: Due to its low strength, the punching speed can be appropriately accelerated, but it should not be too fast. Too fast may cause tearing at the edge of the punching. Generally, the punching speed can be controlled at a moderate level and fine-tuned according to the actual operation situation.

Lubrication measures: Before punching, apply an appropriate amount of lubricant on the surface of the steel bar to reduce friction during punching, reduce punch wear, and make punching smoother.

Hot-rolled ribbed steel bars

Rebar characteristics

The surface of hot-rolled ribbed steel bars has crescent ribs or equal-height ribs, which have strong bonding with concrete and high strength grades. They are widely used in various building structures, with a wide range of common diameters, ranging from 6mm to 50mm.

Precautions for use

Mold adaptation: According to the shape and size of the steel bar ribs, select a matching mold. The cutting edge of the mold should be able to adapt to the shape of the steel bar ribs to ensure the quality of punching and avoid punching deviation or cracking.

Adjust punching parameters: Due to its high strength, when using a steel bar punching machine, it is necessary to appropriately increase the punching pressure. At the same time, according to the size of the steel bar diameter, reasonably adjust the punch stroke to ensure that the punch can completely penetrate the steel bar.

Check the surface of the steel bar: Before punching, carefully check whether there are defects such as rust and cracks on the surface of the steel bar. If these problems exist, it may affect the punching effect and even cause equipment failure. For slightly rusted steel bars, rust removal is required before punching.

Cold-rolled ribbed steel bars

Rebar characteristics

Cold-rolled ribbed steel bars are steel bars with ribs on three or two sides on their surface after cold rolling or cold drawing to reduce the diameter of hot-rolled wire rods. They have high strength, good plasticity, and strong bond strength, but their ductility is reduced compared to hot-rolled steel bars.

Precautions for use

Control punching force: Since the ductility of cold-rolled ribbed steel bars is relatively poor, if the force is too large during punching, it is easy to cause the steel bars to break brittlely. Therefore, when operating the steel bar punching machine, the punching force should be accurately controlled according to the specifications and actual conditions of the steel bars, and multiple progressive punching methods can be used.

Punch selection: Choose a sharp and wear-resistant punch to ensure that the steel bars can be penetrated smoothly during the punching process, while reducing the friction and wear between the punch and the steel bars.

Rebar fixing: When punching cold-rolled ribbed steel bars, it is even more important to ensure that the steel bars are firmly fixed to prevent punching deviations or other safety issues caused by the movement of the steel bars. Specialized clamps or fixtures can be used to increase the stability of the steel bars during the punching process.

Therefore, understanding the characteristics of different types of steel bars and operating the steel bar punching machine according to the corresponding instructions can not only improve the punching efficiency and quality, but also extend the service life of the equipment and ensure construction safety.
